Volunteers are a critical part of health fairs. Both medical and non-medical volunteers are essential for a successful fair. Non-medical volunteers help with registration, vision testing, height and weight measures, set-up, take down, statistics, and many other jobs throughout the duration of the fair. Medical volunteers conduct blood pressure screenings, conduct check-out and evaluations and draw blood. Medical professionals with specialized training can conduct glaucoma screenings, hearing screenings, oral cancer screenings or skin cancer screenings for health fair participants.
We are always looking for more volunteers. If you would like to help, please contact Alaska Health Fair.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please take a minute to look at the volunteer positions. You may find a specific task or be willing and ready for anything.
Each volunteer must fill out out volunteer application . These applications are on of the most important tools Alaska Health Fair uses to place volunteers. It is important to fill the application out completely and clearly each health fair season. When volunteering as a group, (i.e. Boy Scout troop, sorority group, church group, etc.) each volunteer must fill out a separate application, entering the name of the group after their own name.
About the Application: The application has many different pieces of information for the Volunteer and the Health Fair Office. The schedule for the most current season will be listed on the application. This is where you will mark which dates and locations you would be available to volunteer. The application also includes a Volunteer Standards Agreement that each volunteer must sign and understand before volunteering at one of our events. The volunteer position list helps us schedule you for the task you enjoy most, and also informs us if you are willing and flexible to learn or help with several different tasks. The Phlebotomy Applications include a screening application that must be filled out by all first time phlebotomy applicants.
A few minutes of your time to complete the volunteer application may make a lifetime of difference both for you and health fair participants.
